Description:
The intern candidate will complete an approximate 12 week internship at Work Opportunity Center, Inc. The internship will be divided into 3 week periods learning several aspects of Vocational programming for individuals with developmental disabilities. The intern may not do each task in every setting, but the general duties include:
1.Department of Transition - learn and work with referring agencies. Help identify and target individuals for referrals. Administer standardized testing and interpret results. Perform situational assessments and practice writing assessments.
2.Employment Specialist - target area business to discuss program and develop job opportunities for program participants. Administer standardized testing and interpret results. Write career development strategies, attend participant meetings and coordinate transportation.
3.Vocational Supervisor - focus on 1:1 training of work and educational skills for program participants. Distribute, quality control and package production work. Identify individuals that are in need of intensive supports, write needs assessments and reinforce real work skills and behaviors.
4.Employment Coordinator - perform case management duties such as writing annual assessments, maintaining personal files, attending participant meetings, and coordinating transportation. Develop and implement a work skills training program. Administer standardized testing and interpret results.
Minimum Requirements:
A major or minor in Psychology or Social Sciences.
